Home win in Chamonix: Noel is finally back

For a long time, the slalom runners despaired of Luca Aerni's interim best time, who came 29th after the first round and made optimal use of his start number in the final and conjured up a strong run in the snow. This lead lasted until Noel left the starting house. The 1-year-old, who was in third place after the first run, kept his nerve and pulverized Aerni's time by 23 hundredths of a second.

As a result, Ramon Zenhäuser and Marco Schwarz cut their teeth on the Frenchman's time. Schwarz, who extended his lead in the Slalom World Cup, made a mistake in the upper part of the course in the second round, which possibly cost him the victory. For Noel, who according to experts has the future in slalom, it was his 7th World Cup victory. He celebrated his last one almost exactly a year ago - also in Chamonix. Azzurri disappoint Things didn't go as planned for the Azzurri. They couldn't really take advantage of their good starting numbers in the second round. Stefano Gross came best in 2th place, just ahead of the best South Tyrolean Simon Maurberger. Manfred Mölgg and Alex Vinatzer had to be satisfied with places 18 and 28. Riccardo Tonetti narrowly missed the second round in 29rd place.

The Azzurri already have a chance of making amends on Sunday. Then another slalom is on the agenda at the foot of Mont Blanc.

Home win in Chamonix: Noel is finally back

Clement Noel is back on the top podium. The Frenchman celebrated his first win of the season at the home World Cup in Chamonix - thanks to a very strong ride in the second round.
