Hirscher leads in Alta Badia

The first round didn't start well. The German Stefan Luitz, who started the race with starting number one, injured his left knee after just three goals and had to stop. Starting number two, Frenchman Mathieu Faivre, also had problems. The first person to make good use of the icy conditions on the Gran Risa was the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen. He is in second place after the first run. Marcel Hirscher from Salzburg is in the lead. If Hirscher is at the top after the second round, it would be his fifth win in a row in Alta Badia - a record.

Kranjec and Aerni surprise

The two surprise men from the first run come from Slovenia and Switzerland. While Zan Kranjec is in third place with 33 hundredths of a run, Luca Aerni with the high start number 72 was able to qualify for the second run. A strong performance that also shows that the Gran Risa is in excellent condition and was able to achieve good times even with high numbers.

Mölgg, Eisath and Tonetti are not at the forefront

The “Azzurri” cannot be found in the top ranks. Manfred Mölgg's deficit added up from top to bottom. The man from Enneberg crossed the finish line 1.55 seconds late, which meant 15th place. With a good second run, a lot is still possible. This also applies to Luca De Alpiprandini from Trentino. He is the best of the Italian team in tenth place, 1.15 seconds behind Hirscher.

Florian Eisath from Eggental didn't have a good run and is already almost two seconds behind. Failing in 22nd place after the first round. But Eisath is a specialist for strong second rounds and at least the starting number is a good one. Riccardo Tonetti from Bolzano showed a decent first round. He was 1.37 seconds behind at the finish. That was enough for 13th place, making Tonetti the best South Tyrolean. The fifth “Azzurro” in the top 30 is Roberto Nani (1.84 seconds behind, currently 19th).

Maurberger and Zingerle did not qualify for the second run

Simon Maurberger and Alex Zingerle are not taking part in the second run. While Zingerle failed to finish in his home race (he comes from Stern) and was eliminated, Maurberger from Ahrntal narrowly failed to make it into the top 30. In the end, only 15 hundredths were missing - bitter. Maurberger therefore shared his fate with Giovanni Borsotti, who also failed to qualify for the second run. This will start at 12.30 p.m.
