Hirscher demonstration of force in Beaver Creek – Mölgg 13.

The broken ankle from August seems to have finally been cured: Marcel Hirscher presented himself at his old strength in the first giant slalom of the season in Beaver Creek (the one in Sölden was, as we know, canceled) and won the race confidently. Still in third place after the first run, the Austrian shifted up three gears in the second run and, despite a mistake before the finish, pushed the interim leader Henrik Kristoffersen into second place with an advantage of 3 hundredths of a second. The German Stefan Luitz also had the same lead was in the lead after the first round and had nothing to oppose it. In the end, he still ended up in third place and was able to celebrate his fourth World Cup podium finish.

Mölgg best “Azzurro” Manfred Mölgg, in 10th place after the first round, started his second run very energetically, but lost a lot of time in the final part of the route and fell back to 13th place. Nevertheless, the Enneberger was the best “Azzurro”. Riccardo Tonetti, 24th after the first run, made up a few positions and finished 19th. Florian Eisath was only just able to qualify for the second round in 27th place and ultimately ended up in 21st place. Dominik Paris and Simon Maurberger, however, did not qualify for the decision.

In the first giant slalom of the season, Marcel Hirscher immediately flexed his muscles: The Austrian overall World Cup winner secured victory with a respectable lead over Henrik Kristoffersen and Stefan Luitz. Manni Mölgg was 13th.
