“I’m done with it”: This ski withdrawal is astonishing

The Swedish speed team was hit by a wave of resignations this summer. Among other things, one of the best downhill skiers in Scandinavia, Alexander Köll, ended his career. Hopes for the coming season rested on others, for example 24-year-old Olle Sundin. He was part of the national team and has also trained hard for the new season in the past few weeks. But then the Swede surprisingly announced his resignation. “In short, I have simply lost motivation and joy in skiing,” explains the 24-year-old in a statement from the Swedish association. “I felt it last season, but I wanted to give my career another chance.” So in the summer he trained at home and spent a lot of time with friends and family. “I didn't have time to think about skiing. But then I stood there at the first training camp in Saas-Fee and realized that I was done with this sport. The decision is not easy for me, but it is well thought out.” Future in the online sector Sundin has competed in 11 World Cup races in his career, but never made it into the points. He took part in two World Championships, namely in Åre in 2019 and in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 2021. The speed specialist made it to the podium three times in the European Cup and was also crowned Swedish champion three times. “I used to really enjoy competing in downhill runs. “Last season I often thought to myself that it would be nicer if all of this was over,” explains Sundin. What's next for Olle Sundin? He will be working on an auction platform with two friends. Later he would also like to study programming or construction technology and design.
