European Cup races have a long tradition in the Sarntal. The first edition dates back to the winter of 2004/05. Since then, the second highest racing series in alpine skiing has been hosted almost every season in the centrally located South Tyrolean ski area. In the first two years it was the women who fought for European Cup points in Reinswald, but from 2007 onwards the “Sarner Speed Week” was dominated by men. The South Tyrolean world champions Patrick Staudacher and Dominik Paris, the second in the penultimate downhill run in Kitzbühel Johann Clarey (France), World Cup leader Marco Odermatt (Switzerland) or his pursuer Aleksander Aamodt Kilde from Norway - they were all in the Sarntal at the beginning of their successful careers Begin. At the European Cup final in 2017 and two years ago in Reinswald, the ski ladies were once again hunting for the best time. This will also be the case on Thursday and Friday of this week, when two women's Super-Gs will be held on the 1800 meter long speed course with an altitude difference of 500 meters. "We are ready. Strong field of participants Almost 90 ski racers from 14 different nations will be at the start in Sarntal, including Christina Ager and Elisabeth Reisinger. The two Austrians are in the lead in the Super-G classification. The Swiss Jasmina Suter made people take notice last weekend with a seventh place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the World Cup and will now do everything she can to confirm her strong form in South Tyrol. Her sister Juliana, who will also be there, leads the overall European Cup ranking and the downhill ranking. The largest contingent in terms of numbers at the home races is naturally host Italy. The “Azzurre” travel with a team of 30 women.
