Innerhofer returns with an emotional message

Five months after his serious knee injury, Christof Innerhofer is back. After hard weeks and months in the rehabilitation center, the Gaiser was able to put on his skis again on Wednesday on the Stilfserjoch and make his first turns.

“Today I strapped on my skis again for the first time. What a joy,” Inner’s Instagram post begins. “When you wait for something for a long time and that day finally comes, you feel like the luckiest person in the world. Today is such a day for me.”

“I put the skis back on and felt like a little boy doing this for the first time. The coordination of the knee is good. Of course I haven't given full throttle yet, I now have to grow step by step and without stress," wrote Innerhofer, who concluded his message to the fans with the following words: "For me, skiing is now more of a therapy than tough training. I have a good feeling."

Innerhofer's goal is to be at the start of the downhill World Cup Lake Louise To be there again at the end of November.
