Innerhofer triumph at the Gardenissima

481 skiers from 11 nations competed against each other on the challenging route on Sunday. Due to heavy snowfall in recent days, the race was postponed to Sunday, April 3, 2022, when the weather was expected to improve significantly. The ski race started at 14 a.m. in a wonderful winter panorama with sunshine and low temperatures (-8.30°C). Because of the fresh snow, the route was a little slower than in previous editions, meaning that the best skiers needed around 30 seconds more time than in icy conditions.

Christof Innerhofer won the men's race with the best overall time of 4.07,14:4.07,72 minutes, just ahead of the Austrians Otmar Striedinger (4.08,83:4.14,04) and Daniel Hemetsberger with 4.15,49:4.16,90. In the women's race, the Austrian Franziska Gritsch won with an excellent time of XNUMX:XNUMX minutes, followed by Christina Ager (XNUMX:XNUMX) and local hero Nicol Delago XNUMX:XNUMX.

In the Ski Legends category, Massimo Penasa took first place among men with a super time of 4'17.18, followed by Peter Runggaldier and Lukas Perathoner. Andrea Fischbacher won the women's race, just ahead of Verena Stuffer and Nina Himmi. The South Tyrol Gardenissima Kids, the race for the ski champions of tomorrow, took place in the afternoon.
