Italian star coach is moving to Austria

While the men's team in Austria relies on a proven team, there are innovations on the women's side. Alexander Hödlmoser and Karlheinz Pichler are returning to the ÖSV, and an absolute star coach, the Italian Livio Magoni, has been hired. He comes from Lombardy and is the brother of former Serie A footballer Oscar Magoni. The “ex” of Tina Maze and Petra Vlhova will primarily look after Katharina Liensberger as an assistant coach in the technical team.

“I am absolutely satisfied with the result of the coaching team. We were able to fill all positions the way we imagined,” said Mandl, the new sporting director of alpine skiing in the ÖSV. “We have actually completely restructured the women’s coaching team. “I just wanted to bring a new spirit to the different teams here,” explained Mandl. “For him, Austria is the greatest.” ÖSV Alpine boss Herbert Mandl According to Mandl, Magoni, who coached both Maze and Vlhova to become World Cup winners and most recently looked after the Slovenian Meta Hrovat, offered himself to the ÖSV. “For him, Austria is the greatest.”

Magoni officially becomes “co” of the new technical trainer Georg Harzl, who most recently looked after Lena Dürr in Germany. Magoni should mainly take care of double world champion Liensberger. “But overall I expect strong input in the giant slalom,” said Mandl. “Livio is one of the most experienced and successful women’s trainers ever. Overall, we now have alpine expertise right down to the junior level.”
