Italian victory: Brignone leaves everyone behind in the Lienz-RTL

Brignone put everything on one card in an extremely exciting race and - after fourth place at the halfway point - was fully on course for victory in the decision. This calculation worked out for the Milanese: with a minimal lead of four hundredths of a second, she relegated Viktoria Rebensburg to second place and thus took home her sixth World Cup victory. After several injuries that repeatedly limited Brignone at the start of the season, the triumph was like a balm on the soul of the 27-year-old “Azzurra”.

Behind Brignone and Rebensburg, Mikaela Shiffrin completed the podium in third place. The American, who climbed to the “Stockerl” for the 53rd time in her career, further moved ahead in the overall World Cup rankings.

Mölgg's podium streak comes to an end In the fourth giant slalom of the winter, Manuela Mölgg did not reach the podium for the first time this season. The 33-year-old from Enneberg, who had started the race somewhat ailing, didn't really get going in both runs and had to settle for a place outside the top ten. In the end, Mölgg took 13th place.

With Sofia Goggia (16th place) and Irene Curtoni (25th place), two more Italians finished in the points. Marta Bassino, who was ninth after the first round, was eliminated in the decision.
