Italy's ski association hits the table: "Enough!"

“Enough with the polemics and the false statements”: these words appear in large letters on the title line of a press release from the Italian winter sports association FISI. In the communiqué, the ski association slammed the table and condemned the discussions of the last few days in the strongest possible terms.

It is not explicitly mentioned, but it is clear what the FISI is referring to in its broadcast: the polemic surrounding Maria Rosa Quario, the mother of Federica Brignone, in a radio interview Fiercely shot at Sofia Goggia and thus stirred up a lot of dust. Doctors defended “The Italian Winter Sports Federation strongly condemns the very polemical statements that have been made about national team athletes in recent days. We cannot accept personal judgments from outsiders against athletes,” the statement said. FISI also particularly protects its own medical department.

As a reminder: Brignone's mother had claimed that Sofia Goggia's injury was not as bad as communicated - an indirect attack on the winter sports association's doctors. Goggia, who primarily criticized these statements , won the silver medal in the downhill at the Beijing Olympics just 23 days after the serious fall in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Clear demand from FISI “The association's medical department has always worked with great professionalism, evaluated the scientific and clinical data and also assumed responsibility for decisions relating to the duration of the downtime. The goal was always to get the athlete fit. Thanks to this work, the medical department – together with the trainers and physiotherapists – is one of the best in the world of sport.”

There is also a clear demand from the winter sports association: “FISI demands that certain statements and polemical tones disappear immediately to make room for the sport, the results and the goals that the athletes can achieve in the season finale.” Whether the story does this end?
