Julia Mancuso celebrates her sixth World Cup victory – a great eighth

On the 2011 World Cup slope, Mancuso beat Austria's Anna Fenninger (+0,13) and Liechtenstein's Tina Weirather (+0,45). For Mancuso, who only came 13th in the downhill on Saturday and therefore skied with a lot of anger in her stomach, it was the sixth triumph in the highest racing series for alpine skiers, the first in the Super-G after Cortina 2007.

Immediately behind the Austrian, Hanna Schnarf from Olanger came in eighth place (+0,97). Daniela Merighetti finished the Super-G in ninth place. “Schnarf showed a very courageous ride and fought for every meter,” said the Austrian TV commentator Alexandra Meissnitzer. There were also three World Cup points for Verena Stuffer from Val Gardena, while Lisa Agerer had to settle for 31st place. Lucia Recchia withdrew from the start due to back pain.

The Super-G was marked by many failures. After the first eight runners alone, four athletes were already eliminated. Later, top favorite Lindsey Vonn was also hit, failing to finish a Super-G for the first time this season one day after her 50th World Cup victory. Tina Maze also failed after around 40 seconds of driving.
