Junior Italian Championship: Three South Tyroleans on the podium

In the men's race, Federico Liberatore, who comes from Fassa, triumphed and was able to celebrate a prestigious home victory. However, the 20-year-old was not the fastest of the day: the Austrian Magnus Walch took victory in the absolute ranking, leaving Liberatore behind by nine hundredths of a second. Also worth mentioning: 37-year-old Davide Simoncelli, who celebrated two World Cup victories in his active career, took part purely as a joke and proved that, despite his advanced age, he still knows how to handle the skis. He placed fourth, but like Walch and Fabio Gstrein (Austria, third place in the absolute ranking) was of course not counted for the Italian championship. Hannes Zingerle lined up behind Liberatore and was therefore able to show the best result in South Tyrol. The performance of the Gadertaler earned the rating “outstanding”, especially in the second run, as Zingerle gained a total of seven places and thus advanced to second place. In the end, Liberatore was untouchable with a lead of 43 hundredths of a second. The performance of Florian Schieder, who crossed the finish line 0,57 seconds late, was also strong. Simon Maurberger, on the other hand, only missed the podium by a measly two hundredths of a second and took fourth place in the final tally. Not to forget Alex Vinatzer's sixth place, who three days ago had to admit defeat to his colleague Tobias Kastlunger at the U-18 Italian Championships in Santa Caterina, but now the private duel with the Enneberger, who also came in place on Monday 16, could decide for themselves.

Verena Gasslitter in third place Laura Pirovana, who comes from Trentino, triumphed in the women's category. In the end, she had a clear lead of 0,66 seconds over the surprising runner-up Carlotta Saracco (born in 1999). Verena Gasslitter from Castelrotto missed the silver medal by just two hundredths of a second, but was still happy with her third place. Melissa Perathoner from St. Christina also made it into the top 10 in eighth place.
