Junior World Championships: Verena Gasslitter wins the next medal

Verena Gasslitter has already been in the top three in the European Cup five times this season. Now she has also made it onto the podium in the junior title fights in Russia. This is the greatest success in the career of the 3-year-old from Castelrotto to date.

Gasslitter only had to admit defeat in the Super-G to Nina Ortlieb, the daughter of the former ÖSV downhill skier Patrick Ortlieb, and the Canadian Valerie Grenier. Ortlieb won the gold medal with a lead of 7 hundredths over Grenier and 33 hundredths over Gasslitter.

The two other South Tyroleans, the sisters Nicol and Nadia Delago, did not reach the finish line.

In the men's category, however, Matthieu Bailet was crowned the new Super-G world champion. Here Florian Schieder from Castelrotto was the 23rd best Italian.

After Nicol Delago's bronze medal in the downhill on Saturday, the next South Tyrolean has now taken part in the Junior World Championships in Sochi. Verena Gasslitter also finished third in the Super-G.
