But Pichler came back - and, as mentioned at the beginning, suffered another setback in the form of a torn cruciate ligament in September last year after just seven days of training. After the fourth serious injury within 33 months (Pichler tore a meniscus in his right knee in January 2015 and a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee in February 2016), isn't she thinking about quitting at some point? "No. Skiing is what I want to do at the moment. This is my passion, it's what I'm good at. That’s why I’m not letting the injuries derail me.” Fear? None Pichler already completed a few days of skiing in April and May, then took a three-week break and has been doing intensive dry training since the beginning of June. Yesterday, Monday, the 23-year-old started the training camp on the Stelvio Joch with the women's national team and can really put her foot down.

Pichler is not afraid that anything will happen to the damaged knee again. “If you're afraid, you're too passive on the slopes. I know that I have worked well in the last few months and that I am 23 percent physically fit. That gives me security,” said the XNUMX-year-old. When asked about her goals, the Petersberg native says the following: “I don't like setting goals for myself in terms of placement. Also because it has now been four years since I completed a full season. But I have prepared well, so a lot is possible.
