Kilde can be celebrated in Val Gardena

In order to properly honor Kilde's triumphs from December 2020, the Saslong Classic Club and the Val Gardena tourism organizations organized a harmonious celebration in his honor at the Saslonch Hut. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde secured a place in the Saslong history books around eight months ago. He achieved the double on December 18th and 19th, 2020, i.e. winning the downhill and super-G in one year on the Val Gardena downhill slope. A feat that only his Norwegian compatriot Aksel Lund Svindal has achieved before Kilde. A masterpiece that also earned Aleksander Aamodt Kilde a special prize: the DOLOMITES Val Gardena South Tyrol Ski Trophy. This award, sponsored by the Saslong Classic Club and the valley's tourism organizations, goes to the ski racer who can collect the most World Cup points in the Val Gardena Classics in a year. Kilde achieved this in an impressive manner, as more than 200 points is not possible. As a prize, Kilde received a life-size wooden bust of the winner, a winner's check for 5000 euros, and a short vacation in Val Gardena. The Scandinavian superstar has spent this short vacation in Selva over the past few days and as part of this the award ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Saslonch Hut. “It's very nice to be here again. The Dolomites are a dream even in summer. It's true that I have a very special relationship with Val Gardena. I just feel comfortable here. Why am I so fast in winter? Maybe it's the good food. The excellent snow quality definitely suits us and we can almost always master the technically difficult passages, such as the jumps, very well,” said Kilde on Wednesday at the Saslonch Hut. "Every day better" When asked about his fitness - Kilde suffered a serious knee injury during training in January - the overall World Cup winner of the 2019/20 season said: “It's getting better day by day. Last week I spent a few days skiing on the Stelvio Pass. But it will be a few weeks before I can give 100 percent. But I think positively and hope to be able to compete in Sölden. I would like to attack again in Lake Louise at the latest. Anything can happen in the fight for the overall World Cup.” As part of the celebration at the Saslonch Hut, Rainer Senoner (President of the Saslong Classic Club), Roland Demetz (Mayor of Wolkenstein), Christina Demetz (DOLOMITES Val Gardena) and Angelo Dalpez (Vice President of the Italian Winter Sports Association FISI) addressed their greetings to the numerous guests - including FIS race director Markus Waldner, the two Val Gardena ski racers Nicol and Nadia Delago, as well as the ex-ski professionals Peter Runggaldier, Werner Perathoner and Peter Fill - who thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful summer day in the immediate vicinity of the downhill run.
