Kilde rocks the Saslong – defeat for South Tyroleans

The Saslong has been Elche's territory so far this year: After Aksel Lund Svindal's victory on Friday, his compatriot Aleksander Aamodt Kilde went one better and won the descent on Saturday. The Norwegian with start number 6 showed an outstanding ride, without mistakes, with a lot of speed and pulverized the best time of the previously leading Swiss Mauro Caviezel.

Nobody could challenge Kilde for the lead. In the end it was a more than confident victory for the Scandinavian. The Austrian Max Franz took second place, 0,86 seconds behind. Svindal was unable to repeat his strong performance from Friday, probably due to the fact that he was the first to go onto the slopes after Marc Gisin's serious fall. After a half-hour break, Svindal showed a cautious drive and ultimately had to settle for seventh place.

South Tyroleans disappoint As with the downhill run in Val Gardena, this time too there was nothing to gain for the local ski racers.

As the first local hero of the day, Christof Innerhofer started in eighth place. However, he could not live up to the fans' high expectations. Although the Gaiser didn't make any obvious mistakes, he was simply traveling too slowly, lost a lot of time in the first section and ended up in sixth place for the time being. In the end, Innerhofer fell back to 18th place.

Things didn't go any better for Dominik Paris either. The man from Ultimo, who had already been eliminated from the Super-G but was at least satisfied with the speed, placed one place ahead of Innerhofer and took 17th place. This time “Domme” lacked the necessary speed.

Werner Heel from Passiria finished 30th and got one World Cup point. Florian Schieder from Castelrotto finished the race in 54th place.
