Kilde sets the best time in the first Garmisch training session

Kilde set the best training time on the Kandahar route, but passed a gate illegally. The Norwegian is considered a Garmisch specialist, as he celebrated his first World Cup victory (three in total) here in the downhill in 2016. The Val Gardena winner had a lead of 0,56 seconds over the Frenchman Roger Brice at the finish. Wengen winner Vincent Kriechmayr came third (he also missed a goal), 0,73 seconds behind.

“Azzurri” within striking distance The fastest “Azzurri” were Matteo Marsaglia and Mattia Casse, who also missed a goal correctly, in fifth place. Christof Innerhofer and Dominik Paris also seem to be in good form: Innerhofer (didn't pass all the goals correctly) finished eighth in the first training session (+1,21 seconds). Paris was only a hundredth of a second slower than Gaiser and finished ninth. Innerhofer in particular has a special connection to Garmisch-Partenkirchen: in 2011 he was crowned Super-G world champion here and in 2013 he celebrated his last World Cup victory to date on the Kandahar course (downhill).

Werner Heel also completed a strong first training run and ended up in 14th place (+1,54 seconds). Alexander Prast crossed the finish line in 45th place. Florian Schieder did not start on Thursday.

The second training session will take place in Garmisch on Friday. The downhill race takes place on Saturday (11.30:10.30 a.m.).
