Kilde and a no-name amaze everyone in Bormio

Four Super-Gs were held this season, three times the winner was Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. The Norwegian celebrated his most recent success on the Stelvio in Bormio, where he made the competition look old. What superstar Mikaela Shiffrin's friend conjured up on the icy slopes on Wednesday was great ski cinema. Kilde gave full throttle right from the start, mastered the key passages as if it were the easiest thing in the world and thus gained an impressive lead of 0,85 seconds over Vincent Kriechmayr, who had been leading until then.

However, there was another big bang during the race: Raphael Haaser threw himself onto the slopes with start number 25. The Austrian, who only has 20 World Cup races on his resume, kept up with Kilde excellently from the start and lost very little time over the course of the journey. So the first podium place of his career was perfect. The brother of ÖSV ace Ricarda Haaser already showed that he has talent last winter when he raced to fourth place in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. An encouragement for Innerhofer There was nothing to gain for the South Tyroleans. Dominik Paris, on Tuesday had celebrated another heroic downhill victory , didn't get off to a good start in the race right from the start and made a mistake in front of a flat section, which cost a lot of speed and time. In the end, the Ultner lost more than two seconds and only took 24th place in the final ranking.

Christof Innerhofer did a little better, finishing the race in 13th place and thus achieving his best result this winter. It was an encouragement for Gaiser, after all, he was self-confident after the disappointing 37th place in the downhill from Bormio. The best Azzurro on Wednesday was Mattia Casse, who finished 10th.
