Killer Kjetil in Kvitfjell – first World Cup points for Florian Schieder

FIS director Markus Waldner's instructions to the course setter were clear: please stay on the icy line of the descent. The Canadian coach, Burkhard Schaffer, obeyed Waldner to the letter and set an extremely direct and fast course. Local hero Kjetil Jansrud solved this challenge brilliantly; the leader of the Super-G classification hit all the key points optimally and took the lead in a superior manner. As in the downhill race on Saturday, the Swiss Beat Feuz came second, followed by the Frenchman Brice Roger, who came third with the high start number 49. Because Aksel Lund Svindal was eliminated, his teammate Jansrud secured the small crystal ball in the Super-G early. For the 32-year-old, it is the third Super-G ball after 2015 and 2017.

Clap for “Azzurri”

There was nothing to gain for the “Azzurri”: Christof Innerhofer lost a lot of time in the flat finish and finished thirteenth, Dominik Paris started the race with starting number one and messed up the “Tommy Moe” curve – more like 32nd place was for the Ultner not to be picked up.

Florian Schieder scores

Emanuele Buzzi gave a strong sign of life with 14th place; for the 23-year-old, it is his best result to date in this discipline. And Florian Schieder from Castelrotto made it into the top 30 for the first time. The 22-year-old finished 27th in only his fourth World Cup race and now has four World Cup points to his name. Florian Schieder started a World Cup race for the first time in Garmisch at the end of January.

Killer Kjetil in Kvitfjell – first World Cup points for Florian Schieder

The penultimate World Cup Super-G of the season on Sunday in Kvitfjell in Norway was essentially Saturday's shortened downhill run. Much to the delight of the Norwegians, local hero Kjetil Jansrud won.
