Kriechmayr also conquers the Val Gardena fog

The weather in Val Gardena was better than feared in the morning, but the start still had to be postponed a little. The Super-G was around 15 seconds shorter and also started a few minutes late. But the few revolutions of the hand weren't enough, because the race was interrupted again after the Austrian Christian Walder. Four runners had crossed the Saslong by then, and Dominik Paris from Ultimo was interrupted.

Kjetil Jansrud came closest to him. The Norwegian is always strong in Val Gardena, but missed victory in difficult conditions (the fog had moved in again) by a blink of an eye of five hundredths. The German Thomas Dreßen also presented himself strongly, driving away from the lower part of the entire competition and thus securing third place. But shortly afterwards the big tremors began. The race had to be interrupted a second time and could not continue until 3:14.45 p.m. And so it wasn't clear until late that Kriechmayr would actually be able to celebrate his fifth World Cup victory.

Paris ended up 14 hundredths behind the podium, and he wasn't all that dissatisfied in the TV interview: “The run wasn't ideal for the prevailing conditions, but it was still pretty good. Now I’m hoping for better weather luck on the descent.” Things didn’t go as well for Peter Fill. The veteran from Castelrotto, who started with number 32, was the first runner who did not see the finish flag. No other South Tyroleans crossed the Saslong because the race was finally stopped right in front of Alexander Prast. Bitter for the people from Bolzano, the rest probably won't care.

In a Val Gardena Super-G characterized by long interruptions, the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr was the fastest in the end. The main protagonist on the Saslong, however, was the fog, which almost caused the race to be cancelled.
