Kristoffersen mourns his companion: “Incredibly sad”

The accident happened on December 30th. In the following days, a total of seven bodies were recovered from the rubble, according to Norwegian authorities. 1200 people had to be evacuated and residents of the municipality of Gjerdrum are still missing. On Saturday, police confirmed that entrepreneur Eirik Grønolen was one of the victims. The 31-year-old worked in the IT industry and worked with many Norwegian sports greats such as Henrik Kristoffersen, Aksel Lund Svindal and tennis ace Casper Ruud through his company Dunderverk. “First and foremost, it is incredibly sad for everyone affected by this, and especially for those whose relatives are missing or have died,” Henrik Kristoffersen mourned at a press conference. “My thoughts go out to them, of course.” Grønolen died when the house he lived in was caught in the landslide and moved several hundred meters. A roommate survived the accident, Norwegian Radio said. Great dismay “I worked closely with them,” the 26-year-old continues, saying that a chill ran down his spine, “because I didn’t follow the media and my father called me and said Eirik was one of the missing people. I'm from the area and have spent time there. It’s incredibly sad.” Casper Ruud was also deeply shocked by Grønolen's death: “We have lost a fantastic person and fellow citizen. I have lost a friend, colleague and an important supporter in my team," the 22-year-old wrote on social media: "You left us far too soon. Words cannot express how much you will be missed by everyone who knew you.”
