Lindsey Vonn mourns: “Rest in peace, sweet boy”

Lindsey Vonn loves her dogs. Her fans see this again and again on social media. Whether at a photo shoot, training in the gym, on the ski slopes or even at press conferences - the former world-class skier always has her loyal four-legged friends with her. There is even a separate Instagram page, which is well followed with more than 40.000 fans. Because the dogs are part of the family for Lindsey Vonn. Now the 37-year-old had to say goodbye to one of her beloved “boys” with a heavy heart.

“Bear was 8 years old and was my protector from the first day I took him. He had an aggressive tumor that was discovered just a few days ago. We tried everything to save him, but we lost the battle. He was a fighter and a brave boy until the end,” Vonn wrote on social media, where she has repeatedly posted photos with her beloved Bear in recent days. A broken heart “Bear was special,” recalls Vonn. “He had a great protective instinct and was always in my shadow. He was sweet and incredibly smart. When I was injured, he was the first to lie down next to me. When I cried, he was always there and cuddled (my other two dogs hate it when I cry),” are the emotional words of Vonn, who is very affected by the loss.

“My heart is broken into so many pieces and I don't know how to put them all back together. He left a big hole in my heart that can never be filled. My only comfort is knowing that he will continue to protect me, just from a different place. Rest in peace, my sweet boy.” It is said that a dog leaves footprints on the heart. This is definitely the case with Lindsey Vonn.
