Luitz causes the sensation – Tonetti in the top ten

The German Stefan Luitz, who was already ahead in the first round, was able to maintain the lead and won the race just ahead of Marcel Hirscher from Salzburg. The big favorite had to admit defeat by 0,14 seconds.

For Luitz it was his first World Cup victory ever, after a year-long injury break. The 26-year-old from Allgäu tore a cruciate ligament in December 2017.

Surprise man Tumler The Swiss Thomas Tumler caused another huge surprise. The 29-year-old, who had never made it onto the podium before and was in 21st place after the first run, showed an outstanding second run and was in the lead for a long time.

Only Marcel Hirscher was able to push the Swiss out of first place. In the end it was enough for Tumler to take third place. Tonetti strong The South Tyroleans Manfred Mölgg and Riccardo Tonetti started the second run with a good starting position. Riccardo Tonetti had already opened the group of the top ten. The man from Bolzano also showed a decent second run, but lost half of his lead in the upper part. Little by little he continued to lose some time, and in the end he had to take second place behind Tumler, who had been leading until then.

In the end, Tonetti took eighth place. An outstanding result for the man from Bolzano, with whom he once again achieved his best World Cup result to date. For Tonetti it was his fourth eighth place in his World Cup career.

Alex Hofer from Castelrotto, however, clearly missed qualifying for the second round with 50th place.
