Manni Mölgg on the Gran Risa challenge

“Unfortunately it was never enough for a podium place, I missed that because of my own mistakes. But a fifth place as the best result is also impressive,” explains the passionate ski racer from St. Vigil in Enneberg. He is preparing for the classic in Madonna today and tomorrow with training rides in Pozza di Fassa. “My form is fine, I’m happy. It's just a shame that I threw up the night before the slalom in Val d'Isere. But purely from a driving point of view, it works. I’m looking forward to the next World Cup slaloms,” reports Manni. Mölgg raves about the Gran Risa He describes the fascination of Gran Risa as follows: “The Gran Risa is unique, it is a special slope. The steepness and the ice make things a real challenge. There are certainly no chance winners at the Gran Risa. There are some key spots that need to be hit well. When you reach the finish you’re done and ready.”

As a native of Val Badia, the route in the Hochabteital is of course particularly close to the 39-year-old Mölgg's heart. “I always enjoyed driving because you can practically see the Dolomites while driving and have a wonderful view. Of course you can’t admire that during the race, but this mountain backdrop always gave me extra motivation.”

Odermatt is the favorite, there are a few favorites for the podium places, primarily the two-time season winner Marco Odermatt and Alexis Pinturault, who leads a strong French team.
