Marta Bassino like from another planet

4 giant slalom races were held this winter, 3 of which were won by Marta Bassino: the 24-year-old from Cuneo's star has finally risen this season. Her victory in Kranjska Gora was never under discussion - the Italian is currently too hardened, too confident, too fast.

In the Slovenian winter sports resort, Bassino was already comfortably leading after the first round, ahead of the Swiss Michelle Gisin and Petra Vlhova. Tessa Worley initially caused a stir in the decision: The Frenchwoman, who was still in 1th place at half time, conjured up a fabulous run in the snow and set the interim best time, which was subsequently followed by Shiffrin (5th after the first run ), Vlhova and also Gisin gritted their teeth. But then Bassino swung out of the starting house - and the big show began.

Although the Italian didn't offer a flawless ride, she was extremely fast and ultimately crossed the finish line with a respectable lead of 0,8 seconds - the victory was perfect. “I don't know what the secret was. I just wanted to come down quickly somehow,” Bassino has to smile and emphasizes that she didn’t feel very comfortable: “The feeling wasn’t good in both runs. The slope was very icy and difficult to navigate.” Brignone loses 2 seconds Federica Brignone had nothing to do with the decision: last season's overall World Cup winner is in 5th place in the final ranking. The fact that she is over 2 seconds behind Bassino is further proof of how great the winner is currently in form. There was no South Tyrolean there.

Another giant slalom is on the program in Kranjska Gora on Sunday. The first round starts at 1:9.15 a.m.

Although she didn't feel very comfortable in Kranjska Gora, she triumphed: Marta Bassino is currently in a league of her own in the giant slalom and took her third win of the season.
