With three South Tyrolean women: ski ladies in Åre

Next weekend in Åre, all attention will inevitably be on the duel for the overall World Cup between Petra Vlhova and Mikaela Shiffrin, who is leading with 117 points. The two races in Sweden, a giant slalom and a slalom, will show which way the pendulum will swing. At the moment everything indicates that Shiffrin will win the big ball for the fourth time.

South Tyrol's fans can look forward to something special at the 2019 World Cup venue: for the first time this season, two women will compete in a World Cup slalom - namely Vera Tschurtschenthaler and Celina Haller. The former is having the best season of her career and has earned a fixed ticket to the World Cup thanks to her first European Cup podium. Haller, on the other hand, impressed with her consistency, but she was still denied the big hit. In addition to the two South Tyroleans, Anita Gulli, Lara Della Mea, Marta Rossetti as well as Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino will also compete in the slalom. Pichler is aiming for qualification The two giant slalom specialists are aiming for the first Italian women's victory on Swedish soil the day before. The goal of Roberta Melesi, Karoline Pichler, Asja Zenere and Roberta Midali, however, is to qualify for the second round. Pichler was still denied this this season. Maybe the knot will work in Åre, where she already competed in 2014 and 2015.

While the slalom ball is already safely in the hands of Petra Vlhova, the fight for the giant slalom crystal is an exciting battle between Olympic champion Sara Hector and Tessa Worley. The two athletes are separated by 55 points after the Frenchwoman's victory in Lenzerheide. If Hector leaves Åre with a lead of more than 100 points, the ball can no longer be taken away from her.
