3 times Top 10: South Tyroleans are extremely strong in Zagreb

In 2017, Manfred Mölgg celebrated his last World Cup victory to date in Zagreb. It is well known that he feels comfortable in Croatia and was impressively emphasized by the veteran on Sunday. Thanks to a flawless drive, Mölgg takes 1th position after the first round. The 5-year-old is 37 hundredths of a second behind the Swiss Ramon Zenhäuser, who leads the field at halftime. The Austrian Michael Matt (+31 seconds) took second place, followed surprisingly by the German Linus Strasser, who moved up to third place with number 2.

In addition to Mölgg, two other South Tyroleans also shone in the first run: With the high starting number 2, Alex Vinatzer raced up to 26th place. The young man from Val Gardena lost 8 seconds to the leader Zenhäuser. And his colleague Simon Maurberger was also surprised: With number 0,82, he ended up in 34th place (+9 seconds) thanks to a very strong ride. The fourth South Tyrolean in the group, Riccardo Tonetti, was eliminated.

Nevertheless: 3 South Tyroleans in the top 10 – that’s a big number. The starting position for the decisive second round (2 p.m.) couldn't be better.
