After the best time, the sticks fly: Kriechmayr is annoyed

When Vincent Kriechmayr swerved in the finish area during the final training in Kitzbühel, he did so with an annoyed expression on his face. When he threw his sticks roughly into the corner shortly afterwards, it was clear: the Austrian was pissed off. But not because he completely botched his training on the Streif, but - curiously - because he set the best time in the dress rehearsal .

Whether he is only interested in being the favorite or also because he has already had a really strong run and the competition could copy his line, that remains Kriechmayr's secret. Either way, the Upper Austrian counts on the descents on the Streif on Friday and Saturday (at 11.30 a.m./live ticker at SportNews ) among the absolute top favorites. A victory in Kitzbühel would be long overdue for him anyway: so far, second place in the downhill race last year is his best result. Paris feels good again Incidentally, one of the favorites is Dominik Paris, who sent a strong exclamation mark with his 4th place in the final training. “It felt good today. I was happy when I reached the finish,” said the Ultner after his training.

Does he think he has a chance of winning? “Physically it is possible. From a skiing point of view, I first have to see whether I'm fast enough. The competition is extremely fierce. One small mistake and you're already gone." The Hahnenkamm races will be a real spectacle even without spectators and parties.
