Night slalom in Madonna: Mölgg lurks - Hirscher leads

The legendary Miramonti slalom slope in Madonna di Campiglio is the venue for the last World Cup race before Christmas. And Manfred Mölgg from Enneberg is about to give himself a present. The 35-year-old started second after the Swede Andrè Myhrer and immediately set a record.

Mölgg showed a dynamic, almost error-free first run. After the first round he is in fourth place, even ahead of co-favorite Henrik Kristoffersen, who won this night slalom in the last two years.

Mölgg is 44 hundredths short of the leader, who is once again called Marcel Hirscher and who seems to be in a different league today. However, a podium finish is within reach. The Enneberger is just 7 hundredths behind third-placed Swiss Luca Aerni.

However, Patrick Thaler from Reinswalde, Fabian Bacher from Ratschings and Riccardo Tonetti from Bolzano were unable to qualify for the second run.

For Marcel Hirscher it would be his 22nd Slalom World Cup victory and his 4th victory of the season.
