New start time for Super-G in Val Gardena

Every year before the winter season opens, the international ski association FIS, its member associations, the various organizers, rights holders and other representatives of important partners meet for the traditional FIS autumn meeting in Zurich. That's how it was last week when the course was set for the 2019/20 ski winter in the Swiss metropolis. The FIS confirmed the Alpine racing calendar for the coming season and at the same time looked ahead to the next three winters. Val Gardena is a fixed point in all three calendar drafts with its two speed races on the Saslong.

“This is of course very important for our long-term planning. As organizers, we basically want to have planning security of at least 5 years in the future. Because if the organizers invest millions in the infrastructure, then in return it must be guaranteed that they also get the races and can therefore recoup the investments,” says Rainer Senoner, President of the Saslong Classic Club.

The Super-G starts at 11.45 a.m There is a change regarding the start time of the Super-G on Friday, December 20th on the Saslong. This was brought forward to 11.45:4 a.m. This means that both speed races on the Saslong will start at the same time this year. “We try to meet the needs of our partners as best we can and were therefore very happy to comply with RAI’s request. This year, Italian state television will broadcast all XNUMX South Tyrolean World Cup races live before Christmas. “We are of course very pleased about that,” Senoner continued.

The 2019/20 Ski World Cup begins in just over 2 weeks on Saturday, October 26th with the women's giant slalom in Sölden. A day later, the first race for the men takes place - also a giant slalom on the Rettenbachferner. South Tyrol will be in the spotlight of the international skiing scene shortly before Christmas, when a downhill run, a super-G, a giant slalom and a parallel giant slalom will take place in Val Gardena and Alta Badia between December 1th and 20rd.
