Nicol Delago shows strong signs of life

After her Achilles tendon rupture in December 2020, Nicol Delago is trying to get back to her old form. Not an easy undertaking, as the Val Gardena native was recently eliminated twice in a row. The new year started with a strong performance for the speed specialist, who celebrated her 5th birthday on January 26th: in the first downhill training in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, she came in 4th place. Remarkable in that Delago started the race with the high starting number 30. Nicol proved once again that the piste in Pongau suits her. Here she celebrated her last podium finish in the World Cup two years ago when she came second in the downhill. Nadia Delago also strong The German Kira Weidle set the best training time on Thursday, followed 15 hundredths of a second behind by Sofia Goggia, who has won all three downhill runs so far this year. Lara Gut-Behrami (Switzerland) had the third fastest time (+0,42 seconds). Nadia Delago, Nicol's younger sister, also achieved a remarkable result. She ended up in 12th place. Meanwhile, Karoline Pichler lost more than 5 seconds. There is another training session in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee on Friday before the downhill (10.45 a.m.) takes place on Saturday and the Super-G (11.30 a.m.) on Sunday.
