After injuries: Norway's ski star happy again

Ragnhild Mowinckel is the old woman again. The Norwegian made an impressive comeback with her second place in the Super G in Val d'Isère. Although she had to admit defeat to Sofia Goggia, who was hard to catch, on Sunday, according to her smile on the podium, she was the big winner.

The 29-year-old was already able to show a strong fourth place in the Super G in St. Moritz, but of course her first podium since February 2019 tastes much better. In the last two years, Mowinckel had to accept and deal with a number of setbacks after her meteoric rise - but was also able to grow from them. Eight months later, she tragically tore her cruciate ligament again while training at home. “A new round of patience, sweat and tears awaits me,” she said combatively about the further test. Mowinckel's long way to the top After slowly settling into her rhythm last season, but no longer being able to match her previous top performances, she is now back on the podium for the first time in 34 months. “I was finally myself again and felt that I could attack again and give my best performance,” says Mowinckel after the Super G. “I’m back and I can say that it’s wonderful being on the race with the other girls to stand on the podium.”

With the Olympic Games coming up in February 2022, Mowinckel seems to be back in shape in time. She will certainly want to repeat her success there in 2018 - and if possible, make her return a golden one.
