Only 17 athletes in the ranking: Strolz wins the combined tragedy

The alpine combination, actually one of the most traditional disciplines in skiing, is hardly popular these days. This also became clear on Thursday at the Olympic Games in China, when only 17 (!) athletes made it into the rankings. Of course, medals were still awarded.

The misery begins with the associations: why is Italy only sending one participant to the combination, and without any preparation? Innerhofer has not competed in a slalom race, Strolz has skied a few downhills, Pinturault races downhill or super-G all year round. Regarding Szollos: either you made a mistake or Mr. Szollos is an excellent slalom and downhill skier. You can see that he skis well, but that was a top performance!
