ÖSV downhill skiers cannot be beaten in Garmisch either – Paris fifth

This time, however, it was not Olympic champion Matthias Mayer who was fastest, but Hannes Reichelt, who had already set the fastest time in the two training runs on Thursday and Friday. The race, which was supposed to start at 11.45:14 a.m., was initially postponed several times due to the fog and finally took place at XNUMX p.m. on a shortened route.

In an exciting hundredths thriller, the Salzburg man snatched the victory away from his compatriot Romed Baumann, who had been in the lead until then. Reichelt, who celebrated his tenth World Cup success, won by a hundredth of a second. Mayer finished third, 0,24 seconds behind.

Paris is at the forefront

Dominik Paris also gave a strong sign of life on Saturday. The Ultner was even ahead of Reichelt in the first two intermediate times, but then lost some ground and ended up in fifth place. He missed a place on the podium by seven hundredths. Meanwhile, Siegmar Klotz again recorded his best result of the season seven days after Saalbach's 18th place. With starting number 49, the Burggräfler was the last starter to finish 14th.

Peter Fill from Castelrotto also collected World Cup points, finishing the World Cup downhill on the Kandahar slope in 16th place (+0,72). Werner Heel from Walten, however, had to make do with 39th place.

Silvano Varettoni was the best “Azzurro”. He finished fourth ahead of Paris, thus achieving his best World Cup result.
