City Event: The favorites make mistakes, the competition laughs

The city event in Oslo was certainly spectacular - and not just because the ski stars competed against each other in an unusual location, i.e. at the foot of the legendary ski jump on Holmenkollen. The many spectators also had no complaints when it came to excitement. In the end, two athletes came out on top who weren't necessarily on everyone's radar.

Vlhova and Black triumph In the women's race, Petra Vlhova won her first parallel slalom and put the big favorite Mikaela Shiffrin in her place. Vlhova gained a two-tenths of a second lead in the first final run and skillfully defended it in the second run. Third place went to Wendy Holdener, who beat Anna Swenn Larsson in the small final.

In the men's category, an Austrian triumphed - but for once not the big favorite Marcel Hirscher, who had already failed in the quarter-finals. At the end, Marco Schwarz was able to celebrate his first World Cup victory. The 23-year-old, who already indicated his good form in mid-December with second place in Madonna di Campiglio, had the upper hand in the final against the Brit and Hirscher conqueror Dave Ryding. In the small final, Ramon Zenhäuser prevailed against Andre Myhrer.

The only Italian at the start was Irene Curtoni, who failed in the quarterfinals to winner Vlhova.
