Paris & Mölgg: Two third places make South Tyrol's ski fans rejoice

After his mixed performances in Val Gardena, Dominik Paris fell in Santa Caterina a big stone from the heart. “It wasn't easy to be one of the fastest again immediately after the home races. Normally I'm not that bad in Val Gardena - but this year the races there went badly wrong," the Ultner is quoted as saying on the homepage of the Italian Winter Sports Association. The 27-year-old is particularly pleased to shine in front of his own fans: “It’s always nice to achieve results like this in Italy.”

Immediately after the Super-G, Paris turned its focus to the downhill on Wednesday: “Things are going a little better in the Super-G this year, but I am sure that the results will also come in the downhill. There are some hot items for tomorrow's race. But I hope that we Italians are also at the forefront and I hope to be part of it,” the powerhouse concluded.

Mölgg and the story of the missing World Cup victory While Dominik Paris's podium finish was not a sensation, it did come the third place for Manuela Mölgg from Enneberg, it was a big surprise. Although the Val Badia native climbed onto the podium for the eleventh time in her career, she has not had a top three result in the last five seasons. “This podium finish was purely a matter of my head. I always believed in it myself, and my brother Manfred gave me further motivation with his third place in Levi,” said Mölgg after the race. The woman from Val Badia is particularly satisfied with herself: “I have shown that even after 15 years in the Ski World Cup, I can still keep up with the best in the world. I’ve seen a lot of athletes come and go, but even after a decade and a half, I’m still at the forefront.”

After her “return” to the podium, Mölgg no longer knows any upper bounds - also because the Enneberger woman’s first World Cup victory is still a long time coming. “There is another giant slalom tomorrow, Wednesday. I'm already looking forward to being back in the starting house and being surprised again. Maybe my third place will finally loosen the knot and I will be able to move further forward,” said Mölgg aggressively before her 259th appearance in the World Cup.
