Paris gains self-confidence in Bormio

Paris has already won 6 times on the Stelvio. No wonder this route is one of his favorite routes. And it's no wonder that the Ultner wants to take the next step here after his cruciate ligament tear and his comeback at the beginning of this season.

In any case, Paris was able to regain her self-confidence on Sunday during downhill training. The 31-year-old finished in 6th place, 1,20 seconds behind Ryan Cochran-Siegle, who was fastest in training. The American was already ahead in the first training session on Saturday (SportNews reported) . This time second place went to the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr (+2 seconds). As on Saturday, his compatriot Matthias Mayer ended up in third place, this time at the same time as the Frenchman Brice Roger (+0,30 each).

“It was strenuous training,” emphasized Paris. However, there were some further steps in the right direction. “I tried to get the self-confidence back that I had been lacking in the last few weeks,” explained Paris. However, on a slope as hard as the Stelvio, this is not an easy undertaking. Innerhofer strong in the upper part Gaiser Christof Innerhofer was also satisfied with his training weekend on the Stelvio. “I feel better physically than I have in the past two weeks,” he emphasized. He showed a strong performance in some sections, especially in the upper section of the route. The close result of the second training session therefore probably plays a minor role for now. He ultimately finished training in 2th place, 2 seconds behind Cochrain-Siegle.

On Saturday, “Inner” ended up in 10th place as the best Azzurro. However, many athletes were still cautious - the main thing was to get to know the route. In the second training session, Gaiser gave full throttle, especially in the first section, and took it easy in the lower section, as he explained after training.

Florian Schieder from Castelrotto, who started training on Sunday with starting number 62, was able to convince with 20th place (+2,12 seconds). Local hero Pietro Zazzi, another Azzurro with a late starting number (65), made it into the top 20.

Riccardo Tonetti did not start in the second training session. The technology specialist from Bolzano landed in 2th place in the first downhill training session on Saturday. He only competes in the Super-G in Bormio.

Due to the weather forecast, the program in Bormio was slightly changed. The downhill is not scheduled to take place until Tuesday, while the Super-G takes place on Monday. The races start at 11.30 a.m.
