Paris about the departure ball: “The only way to give up is the post office”

Paris is currently in the form of its life. The Ultner won 3 of the last 4 World Cup downhills. He achieved his latest feat on Saturday when he put in a strong performance in Kvitfjell and prevailed in the private duel against Beat Feuz (see own report) .

It is also Beat Feuz who is the big favorite for the downhill crystal ball with one race to go. The Swiss is 80 points ahead of Dominik Paris, so a 12th place at the season finale in Soldeu would be enough for him to clinch the ball. “Dominik won’t let up,” said Feuz in the ORF interview. “You have to defend every point carefully against him. That’s why I’m happy to take the cushion of 80 points with me.”

Paris herself knows that the “Departure Crystal” undertaking will not be easy. “It will definitely be difficult. I basically have to win the race, while Beat isn't allowed to finish in the points. Still, it's nice that we're having a fight like this. And of course: the only way to post anything is to post.”

Paris said the following about his victory on Saturday in Kvitfjell: “After Feuz's performance, my service man told me: You need a really good ride today. I tried and risked everything and it worked for me.”

Paris now has 13 World Cup victories and is level with Kristian Ghedina. Of the “Azzurri”, only Alberto Tomba (50 wins) and Gustav Thöni (24) have more wins.
