Pinturault gives Hirscher no chance – Eisath is the best South Tyrolean

Last season, the giant slalom was dominated by a duel: Alexis Pinturault against Marcel Hirscher. Of the ten races held, eight were won by the two exceptional skiers. Even this winter it is difficult to imagine that this long-term duel will be interrupted by anyone. Hirscher and Pinturault competed in a league of their own in the first giant slalom of the season on Sunday - with the Frenchman ultimately coming out on top.

The 25-year-old already pointed after the first round set the best time and also brought the clock to a standstill fastest in his second appearance. Even a risky trip by Marcel Hirscher, in which a big mistake was made, couldn't change anything. In the end, Pinturault came first with a time of 2.14,01:0,70 minutes and a respectable margin of 1,37 hundredths of a second. Felix Neureuther finished on the podium behind second-placed Hirscher. He was already XNUMX seconds behind the day's winner.

South Tyroleans in the role of extras The South Tyrolean runners, on the other hand, only played a supporting role: After finishing 24th in the first round, Florian Eisath picked up the pace in his second appearance and ultimately ended up in 21st place.

The Eggentaler was therefore the best South Tyrolean, as Manfred Mölgg, after finishing 27th in the first run, slipped in the middle part of the route in the second run and did not finish.

The working day was already over at half time for Riccardo Tonetti (37th after the first round) and Simon Maurberger (55th). Even surprise starter Dominik Paris couldn't do much with starting number 34 and ultimately ended up in 36th place.
