Second place: Fill in the Bormio combination only beaten by Pinturault

The last World Cup race in the 2017 calendar year was hard to beat in terms of excitement. While Alexis Pinturault - in 19th place after the descent - secured first position with a strong slalom, the speed specialists gradually got closer to the Frenchman's time. But no one could beat the all-rounder until the end - Pinturault perfected his 21st World Cup victory.

Peter Fill came closest to Pinturault's best time. The Castelrotto native made the most of his good starting position from the downhill run and climbed onto the podium with a solid slalom run. This was the 21st time in his career that Fill climbed to the “Stockerl”.

Dominik Paris from Ultimo became the tragic hero in the decision. The half-time leader was also excellent in the slalom before he faded in the lower section of the course and missed a possible victory while in the lead.

In addition to second-placed Peter Fill, Christof Innerhofer and Riccardo Tonetti also scored a lot of World Cup points from a South Tyrolean perspective. While Innerhofer finished eleventh, Tonetti took 13th place. Bolzano's Alexander Prast was eliminated from his combined debut in the slalom.
