Premiere victory for Veronika Velez Zuzulova at Semmering – Mölgg 14.

The 146-year-old Slovakian has now competed in 28 World Cup races and has been on the podium 13 times so far. To date, however, it has never been enough for the top podium. After the first run in second place, Velez Zuzulova really got going again in the second run on the “Magic Mountain” and drove to victory in 1:37,28 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Austrian Kathrin Zettel was able to gain one place and ended up a tenth behind the Slovakian, while the leader after the first round, Tina Maze from Slovenia, was visibly disappointed with third place at the finish. She was two tenths behind.

"I am overwhelmed. I have competed in so many races and achieved so many top ten places and now it has finally worked. A dream came true. I don't know exactly why it worked today, but I feel at home here because there were a lot of Slovakian fans here to cheer me on," said a happy Veronika Velez Zuzulova immediately after the race.

Mikaela Shiffrin, who was lying in wait in fourth place after the first round, was unlucky. The young American made a mistake at the top of the second run, but continued to ride and had to give up a little later after another mistake.

Manuela Mölgg in the top 15 Manuela Mölgg from St. Vigil in Enneberg, who was in tenth place at the halfway point, lost a few places in the second round and ultimately had to settle for 2,66th place, 14 seconds behind. After all, it was the South Tyrolean's best slalom result of the current season.

“I always make mistakes in the second run. It's a shame because I was ahead until the second split. Of course there could be more, but the routes with the many changes in rhythm are not to my taste. Unfortunately, I also missed qualifying for the City Event in Munich, but I'm happy for Zuzulova, who already had over ten podium places under her belt, but was only able to climb onto the top podium for the first time today. For me it’s a sign that you should never give up,” said the Enneberger woman.

The fastest “Azzurra” on Saturday, however, was Irene Curtoni, who finished the race in eighth place.

Premiere victory for Veronika Velez Zuzulova at Semmering – Mölgg 14.

The Slovakian Veronika Velez Zuzulova was able to celebrate her first victory in the World Cup in the slalom at Semmering on Saturday. The only South Tyrolean at the start, Manuela Mölgg from St. Vigil in Enneberg, ended up in 14th place.
