Rainer Senoner remains the boss of Val Gardena

Rainer Senoner will continue to serve as president of the Saslong Classic Club for the next four years. The members unanimously elected the 53-year-old from Wolkenstein as their chairman and expressed their confidence in him for the next four-year legislative period.

“It is a great honor and pleasure for me to continue to lead the Saslong Classic Club in the future. Together with the board, I would like to continue on the path we have chosen and continue to work on improving our structure. At the same time, I will work to ensure that the Val Gardena races remain on the FIS calendar. Because that is not a given. We have to do our best year after year, stay active and careful so that we can continue to be part of the World Cup family in the future. What is also still to come in the near future are contract negotiations with our partners so that we can finance our races,” said Senoner in his first reaction after being re-elected.

In addition to Senoner, Marcello Cobelli, Damiano Dell'Osbel, Horst Demetz, Moritz Demetz, Daniela Holzknecht, Igor Marzola, Manuela Perathoner, Werner Perathoner, Monika Runggaldier and Thomas Wielander will sit on the ten-person board that will steer the fortunes of the Val Gardena World Cup Committee. The supervisory board, however, consists of Ivo Senoner, Thomas Weissensteiner and Hans Peter Perathoner.

During the general assembly, Paolo Cappadozzi was honored for his valuable support as long-time president of the Val Gardena-Seiser Alm cable cars. The cancellation of the departure “still hurts” Looking back on the past winter, Senoner emphasized that the cancellation of the classic downhill run still hurts. “It hurt so much because we had perfect conditions throughout Val Gardena from the beginning of December until the start of the World Cup week and were extremely well prepared. But unfortunately you are not immune to a warm spell like the one we experienced in mid-December. At the same time, I would like to emphasize that it was almost a miracle that we were able to hold downhill training and the Super-G under such conditions. “That’s why I would like to thank the FIS around race director Markus Waldner and of course my entire team once again for their excellent work,” concluded Senoner.

The 53rd speed classics on the Saslong are planned for Friday, December 18th (Super-G) and Saturday, December 19th (downhill).
