Giant slalom specialists heading to Beaver Creek

The giant slalomists of the Italian national team are on their way to North America, and their first training session is scheduled for Friday. Manfred Mölgg and Florian Eisath will not join their teammates until next Wednesday.

The “Azzurri” line-up for Beaver Creek is identical to that of Sölden: Manfred Mölgg, Florian Eisath, Simon Maurberger and Riccardo Tonetti, as well as Giovanni Borsotti, Luca De Aliprandini and Roberto Nani. It cannot be ruled out that downhill skiers Dominik Paris and possibly Peter Fill will also start in the giant slalom on Sunday, December 3rd. The race weekend in Beaver Creek begins on Friday, December 1st with the men's Super-G, followed by the downhill on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the International Ski Federation FIS has given the green light for the women's World Cup races in Killington (USA). A giant slalom and a slalom are on the program for November 25th and 26th. Manuela Mölgg, Federica Brignone and Chiara Costazza are currently preparing for the races in North America in Pfelders (Passeier), while the group around Sofia Goggia and Marta Bassino is already training in Copper Mountain (USA). Bad news comes from there: Elena Curtoni, who has just recovered, tore the cruciate ligament in her right knee in a training fall and will be out for the entire Olympic season.
