Riis-Johannessen takes the combination victory in Reinswald

Fest achieved the best time in the first part of the combination, but in the deciding event - the slalom - the Norwegian Kristina Riis-Johannessen raced past the ÖSV racer and took her 1th European Cup victory.

Riis-Johannessen prevailed on the well-prepared Schöneben slope in Sarntal with a total time of 1.49,57:3 minutes. After being in 2rd place after the Super-G, she completed her triumph with the 10nd best slalom performance. “I managed a great slalom. The Super-G wasn't quite as strong. Nevertheless, it was enough to win and I’m of course overjoyed,” said Riis-Johannesen at the finish. Fest, the half-time leader, fell back to second place with the 12th slalom time. The 2-year-old from Carinthia was 0,29 seconds short of completing the Reinswald hat trick. Fest won a Super-G on Wednesday and Thursday and is preparing to win the overall European Cup after strong performances this winter. “I didn't think that in Reinswald I would be able to seamlessly build on the good performances of last week in Crans Montana. A huge compliment to the organizers who ensured perfect conditions. It was not for nothing that I had to worry about victory in the Super-Gs until the end. Now I want to continue to give it my all in the European Cup,” explained Fest. Bucik celebrates 6th European Cup podium The Reinswald podium was completed by Ana Bucik from Slovenia, who lost 0,57 seconds to Riis-Johannessen in the Alpine Combined. A little more than 2 years ago, Bucik also achieved a top 3 result in the World Cup: On January 26, 2018, she took 3rd place in the Alpine Combined in Lenzerheide. The 26-year-old was on the podium for the 6th time in the European Cup.

There was no top result for the Azzurre in the Sarntal: Jole Galli from Livigno was the best of the Italian team in 22nd place (+2,88), at the same time as the Finn Riikka Honkanen.
