Touching post: Shiffrin remembers her grandmother

In her entry, Shiffrin quotes a text by the American writer Mary Elizabeth Frye and dedicates it to her grandmother, who died on October 22nd at the proud age of 98. “Don’t stand at my grave and cry. I'm not here, I'm not sleeping. I am scattered in the thousands of winds, I am the gently falling snow,” the text says, among other things. “She’s singing with the angels now,” Shiffrin concludes her moving post.

Grandma Paulin was considered one of her granddaughter's biggest fans during her lifetime. When Shiffrin won the slalom in Killington (USA) in 2017, her grandmother cheered in the finish area. The ski star was overjoyed and even burst into tears: “The fact that my Nana could see this is unbelievable. I can not describe it. I’ve never been as proud as I was in that moment.”
