Saugestad wins the EC downhill in Reinswald – Heel in 6th place

Stian Saugestad mastered the 2301 meter long Schöneben slope (540 meter difference in altitude) in 1.09,70:0,13 minutes. In his second European Cup victory - he also celebrated his first in the Super-G in Reinswald two years ago - the Norwegian left the Austrian Christian Walder and Davide Cazzaniga from Correzzana in the province of Monza and Brianza behind him. Walder was 0,18 seconds slower than Saugestad, while Cazzaniga lost XNUMX seconds to the downhill winner.

Veteran Werner Heel also showed a strong performance, finishing in 6th place. The 35-year-old from Walten in Passeier was 0,34 seconds short of victory and 0,16 seconds short of third place. The intensive training of the past few weeks in the speed center in Reinswald also paid off for Dominik Zuech from Lana, who took 13th place. Five days before his 22nd birthday, he achieved his best result in the continental racing series. With Alexander Prast from Terlan, another South Tyrolean made it into the top 30. The 21-year-old finished in 26th place.

A total of 100 racers from 19 different nations tackled the European Cup downhill in Reinswald/Sarntal. The European Cup week continues on Wednesday with the Alpine Combined. The descent begins at 10 a.m., the associated slalom at 14 p.m.
