Schröcksnadel successor: Walchhofer suddenly wins the race

In the process to succeed Peter Schröcksnadel at the top of the ÖSV, one meeting is currently following the next. The names of the candidates should be announced next Tuesday, and at the moment it seems to come down to two: the two ex-Alpine greats Michael Walchhofer and Renate Götschl. According to media reports on Tuesday, Walchhofer is said to be in pole position. “The tendency of those entitled to vote is now clearly in the direction of Michael Walchhofer, it was heard,” it said Tiroler Tageszeitung . A constellation with Götschl as Vice President is now also conceivable. However, other key questions such as management positions in the ÖSV holding company or future direction remain unresolved. Also the ORF radio Ö3 and the Kleine Zeitung reported in their online edition that the associations had agreed on Walchhofer as a compromise candidate. Markus Schröcksnadel announced on Tuesday morning that he was not seeking any further positions in the Tyrolean state or federal association. Schröcksnadel is one of the vice presidents there. There are no signs of a third person running for the presidency, at least at the moment. The most recently rumored Martha Schultz (cable car entrepreneur/vice president of the Chamber of Commerce) and Susanne Riess (manager/ex-politician) are unlikely to seriously consider running.
