Semmering hat trick: Shiffrin still cannot be beaten in the slalom

Although Shiffrin did not remain error-free in both rounds, the 21-year-old exceptional talent won her twelfth slalom in a row on the Zauberberg. After half-time runner-up Veronika Velez Zuzulova catapulted herself to the top in the decision with an outstanding ride, Shiffrin countered with a sensational performance, especially in the lowest section of the route, and ultimately took the victory in a dominant manner. For the overall World Cup leader, who won all three races at Semmering, today's victory was the twelfth slalom success en suite.

Behind Shiffrin and Velez Zuzulova, the Swiss Wendy Holdener climbed onto the podium in third place. The Swiss continued her previous season's performance and achieved her fourth top-three placement in a row.

The Italian bright spots are called Costazza and Curtoni For South Tyrol's only slalom runner, Manuela Mölgg, the race was over in the first round. The woman from Enneberg slipped away after a strong split and didn't make it to the finish. Chiara Costazza ensured that the Italian slalom team was still able to celebrate a top ten place. The 33-year-old came in a strong eighth place, making it into the top ten for the first time since January 2015.
