Shiffrin leads the crystal crime thriller from Meribel

Excitement until the last turn – that is the motto of the last giant slalom of the season. Before the race, the focus in the fight for the small crystal ball was on Sara Hector (522 points) and Tessa Worley (517). But Mikaela Shiffrin (471) didn't give in a single millimeter in the first round and conjured up a sensational ride in the snow. The American seems uncatchable and suddenly has the best chance of winning the little crystal ball.

Shiffrin picked up the pace at the crucial transition in the upper part of the course and showed her usual precise driving style. Thanks to her fine and calm turns and her speed in the final part, she gained an impressive lead of 0,82 seconds over Federica Brignone, with Ragnhild Mowinckel only two hundredths behind. Petra Vlhova, who, 91 points behind Hector, only has a theoretical chance of winning Crystal, is in fourth place (+4) and has her sights set on the podium in the decision.
