Shiffrin beaten: Vlhova is the better alien

Petra Vlhova and Mikaela Shiffrin deliver slalom sport on a different level: This was evident again on Thursday evening in Courchevel.

These two ladies are from another planet. This means Petra Vlhova and Mikaela Shiffrin. In Courchvel the Slovakian had the better end. This puts Vlhova at 2-2 in terms of slalom wins this season. If the 28-year-old hadn't been eliminated in Levi on the way to a possible triumph, she would now also be leading the Slalom World Cup. But in these statistics Shiffrin is in the lead - just like in the overall World Cup.

The American achieved her 145th World Cup podium finish at last year's World Cup venue - an incredible statistic. After the first run, Shiffrin was still 17 hundredths ahead of Vlhova. In difficult visibility conditions and snowfall, Vlhova really stepped on the gas in the final and caught half-time leader Shiffrin. Behind Vlhova and Shiffrin there was a respectable gap to the third Katharina troupe from Austria, which was over two seconds behind at the finish.

The Azzurre, on the other hand, experienced a debacle in Courchevel: not a single one was in the points. Marta Rossetti, who was fifth this year, was the only one in the final but was eliminated. The Ski World Cup continues tomorrow, Friday (17.45:20.45 p.m./XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.) with the men's night slalom in Madonna di Campiglio.
